Screw Business as Usual Series #1 - Job Interview

Okay, I copied and paste the main title of Richard Branson’s latest book “ Screw Business as Usual ” which you can learn more from here . Nevertheless the title intrigued me to create my own version even though I’m not RB yet or a billionaire (working on it), but at least I could share some of my past experiences with you. Here’s one Screw version #1; a job interview. Back in the days I would be creating various creative cover letter, burn an interactive cd, create a Pop-Up of my resume and many more just to get an interview and hopefully a job. Internet was new then so I didn’t get the luxury of YouTube and Google let alone a blog. Yet, today I’ve seen crazy ideas and out of the box thinking and processes people went through just to land a job interview. Once I received a notebook wrapped inside a brown envelope stacked on top of other brown envelopes, I took it and invited the owner for an interview straight away without even reading her resume. A pink envelope with seductive scents ...

Learn from skateboarders... seriously!

What I have learnt in the last 42 years of my earthy living is that life sometimes throw you back hard and propel you outwards without warning. There are ups and downs, some have more of the other, some may not, nevertheless we can only plan for the good and the bad and never ever challenge God’s authority when it comes to fate. I used to be a skateboarder yet never made it professional and wasn’t intent to either but like any other sport, practices make perfect and the saying for skateboarder is that of life lesson. The environments we are skateboarding is our daily life, there are many challenges, some are tougher than others, many of them even throw us down hard on asphalt and more so on concrete. Bones are broken, skin are bruised, but never giving up and always seeking new challenges are what most skateboarders are living to. Few skateboarders are good looking, if some of us are given the luxury we always ended up hiding behind our scars, our life scars and we are proud of those. ...

My wish list for 2014 (short one...)

Time passed, 2013 gone and today is the second day of 2014. I left and sold my business in early last year, joined XL Axiata and relived the professional life again for a new purpose of shaping Indonesia’s Advertising Industry from the inside instead as an outsider. Managed that pretty well and got things kicking in place by end 2013. So what would be my wish list for 2014? Here are a quick sum, a short version as it’s only 3. Professional life Start going regional and global with the business XL Axiata has set for me and the team. Work my asses off to get the first one a reality Personal Then see a great movie, one that I’m really looking forward to seeing, The Raid 2nd instalment. Why The Raid? It’s a feel good movie, it’s an Indonesian movie that get my head racing (not my heart), it’s the movie that wanting me to be perfect in an imperfect world, a movie that makes me want to do good; for myself, for my family and my own country. Here are two trailer clips of the movie that made it...

Se...

Ide lama konsep baru
